In an interview with Istra24, Danko Končar announces additional water berths and a boat hall. The operator's website still lists 400 water berths. The expansion announcement is therefore not yet an offer of a new berth already available for use.
A specific announcement in the original interview
Marina Polesana in the Sveta Katarina–Monumenti area is set to grow. In an interview published by Istra24 on 10 October, entrepreneur Danko Končar names 150 additional water berths and a hall for boats taken ashore. The expansion intention can thus be traced directly to the interview; it is not merely a reposted blog report.
Marina21's current operator website lists 400 water berths. Adding the announced 150 would give a total of 550. That sum describes the project's target, not today's available capacity. We have found no verified opening date for the expansion.
For skippers, this distinction is practical. Anyone seeking a berth for their next trip needs a commitment for an actually available service. The prospect of additional capacity replaces neither a reservation nor confirmation that the berth in question suits their boat.
What remains unresolved about the permit
Istra24 also reports a building permit issued to Kermas Istra on 1 October for stage 2, phase 2.2, Luka 2–Monumenti. We could not independently cross-check the full official decision. We therefore do not present its claimed final legal status or individual conditions as a legal position we have verified ourselves.
The environment ministry's website documents a procedure concerning modified floating pontoons and the berth structure of the Sv. Katarina–Monumenti complex. The index lists a decision of 7 August, published on 17 August. This establishes an environmental procedure, not automatically the building permit reported in October for a particular construction phase.
These documents must not be read as substitutes for one another. Our substantiated news is the expansion announced in the direct investor interview, compared with the publicly described existing capacity. A separate report on the official permit would require the exact document and its procedural status.
Water berths, dry berths and a hall are different services
The new hall announcement explains why this report is more than an extra number of pontoon berths. Boat owners face different questions depending on use: is the need for a berth during a voyage, winter storage or work on the boat? A general capacity figure cannot answer those requirements.
The operator website's dry-berth figures are currently inconsistent too: the introduction gives 40, while the facilities list gives 42. We do not use these two figures as a basis for our own prediction of future land capacity. For a specific offer, the marina must confirm which service and berth are actually meant.
Marina21 lists Polesana at Vallelunga 90 in Pula, with polesana@marina21.com and +385 52 378 400 for enquiries. When booking, ask not only about a vacant berth but also about the dimensions needed for your boat, desired services and agreed period. The expansion announcement does not establish a new tariff.
What can only be assessed once operations begin
More berths on a plan can broaden an offering. Whether that brings better day-to-day provision can only be judged by the services actually available: for example, firm haul-out appointments, suitable storage or a clearly documented handover.
A larger future capacity alone does not mean that berths will become cheaper or be available at short notice in every season. Such promises cannot be inferred from the interview. Comparing costs would require specific offers for the same boat and period.
We therefore deliberately keep this article to the verifiable position: an existing marina, a specifically stated expansion intention and implementation still unresolved. Reliable publication of a construction start, acceptance or bookability would be a new step—not merely a repetition of today's announcement.
