The municipality announced that work would begin on 1 October. Construction between the Emila Geistlicha/Palada junction and Mala riva is to proceed in sections – this is not an announcement of an uninterrupted two-year full closure.

01

The site covers a specified stretch of waterfront

There is a specific construction announcement for Baška's waterfront: in its notice of 23 September, the municipality named 1 October as the planned start of phase 2a. The section runs from the junction of Emila Geistlicha Street and Palada to the Mala riva breakwater. GP KRK is the appointed contractor.

The published start date confirms the plan. It does not replace a check of which work is actually taking place today. The announcement date alone therefore cannot answer whether a particular front door, terrace or driveway is accessible.

02

Construction phases do not mean a blanket full closure

According to the municipal announcement, work will proceed in phases. Access may be restricted depending on the section; access to buildings is to be maintained where possible. The municipality describes a new promenade to be completed within two years, but this notice does not publish a detailed daily schedule for every closure.

A two-year project horizon does not mean that the waterfront promenade will be closed for two years. It would be equally wrong to promise that every route will remain unchanged and usable at all times. What matters is the construction phase in place at the time.

Ask three specific questions before travelling

Our recommendation for accommodation on the affected section is to ask about the access currently available, the nearest possible stopping point for luggage and the route from there to the property. A general answer such as ‘Baška is accessible’ does not clarify those final metres.

Anyone travelling with a wheelchair, walking frame or pushchair should ask specifically about steps, temporary surfaces and the width of the alternative route. These are travel-planning questions, not defects at the site that we have established. Without a current check on location, we do not describe any particular diversion as accessible.

04

What matters for a walk

Allow some flexibility along the waterfront and follow the signs on site. Even a route shown as open in older holiday photographs may be redirected during a particular construction phase. Barriers are not an invitation to take an apparently shorter route through the work area.

The direct municipal link below remains the starting point for further notices. We describe the announced scope, but promise neither completion of specific sections by a particular date nor unchanged access to any individual business.
