A trunk main has burst near Podfara

KD Vodovod i kanalizacija Rijeka reported a burst on the DN 400 trunk water main in the area of Podfara 6 and 8 on 4 September. The company says repairs began immediately.

The main supplies Kraljevica, Oštro and the coves of Grabrova and Črišnjeva. This identifies the affected supply line, not necessarily the water situation in every individual house.

02

The terrain makes the repair difficult

The utility describes the damage site as difficult-to-access forest terrain and therefore expected the repair to take longer. Large mains have to be exposed, secured and returned to service in a controlled manner.

The checked notice gave no reliable completion time. No later completion notice could be found at the editorial check on 5 September either.

03

Not every address must be affected in the same way

Pressure zones, reservoir levels and local networks can mean that an outage, low pressure and normal supply occur side by side. Naming a place therefore does not guarantee identical conditions on every street.

Conversely, water running from a tap does not prove that the damage has been completely repaired. The operator’s notices remain authoritative.

04

No boil-water advice has been published

The checked fault notice contains no general instruction to boil tap water. A burst pipe and a hygiene warning are two different notices.

If the utility orders flushing, boiling or another precaution after service resumes, that later instruction applies. A health warning should not be invented without one.

05

Water tankers have not automatically been confirmed either

The original notice does not name any emergency water-supply locations. Anyone needing water should therefore not wait for an unconfirmed tanker at a supposedly usual location.

Accommodation providers and businesses may have local information. For an official answer, the utility lists its fault service, which is available around the clock.

06

How to check conditions for your address

The utility’s fault overview and regional service notices are the first places to check. For an unclear address or a prolonged loss of pressure, call 051 353 222.

Visitors should also ask their accommodation provider because the house connection, reservoir and street may matter. A general notice for a settlement does not replace this address-specific check.

07

Prepare, but do not spread rumours

A small supply of drinking water for the next few hours is sensible. Large-scale stockpiling does not help and may place unnecessary strain on local supplies.

Until a completion notice appears, three statements are reliable: the repair has been reported, difficult terrain has been confirmed, and the timing of full normalisation remains open.
