A payment slip does not create an obligation

Some accommodation providers have received a letter headed “Upis u Turistički Registar” with a payment slip for 25.50 euros. The Novigradsko more tourist board has drawn attention to this. It explicitly states that the letter neither comes from the board nor creates a payment obligation towards it.

According to its notice, the letter itself describes the service as a non-binding advertising offer. The proposed entry is not part of the official procedure for assigning registration numbers to accommodation. Anyone who does not want this advertising service need neither accept nor pay for the offer, based on the content described.

Keep the offer separate from the official procedure

The clarification concerns this particular letter. It is not a call to ignore genuine charges or other obligations as an accommodation provider. Nor is it an official finding of fraud: the crucial point is not to mistake an optional service for an official fee.

For similar-looking mail, first check the sender, the service offered and the wording about its optional nature. A pre-filled payment slip alone does not explain why you should pay.

Set the letter aside for now and ask your local tourist board through its known official contact details. For Novigradsko more, these are info@tznm.hr and +385 23 266 742. Do not use the contact details in the questionable letter without checking them.

If you have already paid, keep the letter and proof of payment and clarify directly what service was agreed. The general warning does not determine any possible entitlement to a refund in an individual case.
