The start is at 10:00 on 12 September
The sixth Ivan Todorić Memorial Run starts at 10:00 on Saturday, 12 September 2026. The start and finish are in the grounds of the former police camp at Valbandon, north of Pula, and the route runs by the sea towards the Štinjan forts.
The event is designed as a running and family day, not only a sporting contest. Participants should still arrive early for number collection, proof of payment and organisational instructions.
11.3 kilometres or a 2.209-kilometre circuit
Istria Police lists 11.3 kilometres for the longer course. A 2.209-kilometre recreational route can expressly be completed on foot, so participation is not limited to trained racing runners.
The unusually precise short distance recalls the date of Ivan’s death, 22 September. Families and people without running experience should treat it as a separate option rather than trying to follow the pace of the main race.
Registration closes at midnight on 8 September
According to the current police notice, online registration remains open until 24:00 on Tuesday, 8 September. The late adult entry fee is at least €20, while children aged 14 or younger pay €5.
The money is transferred directly to the Police Solidarity Foundation. Proof of payment must be shown when collecting the race number, so registration and payment should not be left until the deadline.
The run remembers police officer Ivan Todorić
Ivan Todorić was a young police officer from Pula. He died in a road accident on his way to work on 22 September 2018. The event bears his name and connects remembrance with help for police employees and their families.
That background calls for restraint. The run is not an invitation to speculate about the crash or to depict Ivan symbolically without consent. The documented story is the shared remembrance and purpose of solidarity.
The coastal route is flat, but not automatically easy
The route between Valbandon and Štinjan offers sea views and sections near old forts. The published notice does not provide a full course map, precise surface details or a detailed road-closure schedule.
Expect changing surfaces and encounters between faster runners, walkers and families. Sturdy shoes, water and a pace suited to the chosen distance are more useful than assuming the landscape guarantees a fast time.
Children have their own programme too
Police announce inflatables and a sports course for children. Families can therefore spend the morning together even when not everyone runs or walks the same course.
Supervision and sun protection remain the responsibility of accompanying adults. The notice promises neither childcare places nor unattended drop-off, so treat the extra programme as a family offer, not organised childcare.
