Water cannot currently be pumped from the Banja source for the affected supply area. The city lists tank locations, weekend times and a contact for older people or those needing assistance. Armed-forces water tankers have also been pledged.

Not just low water levels, but an interrupted supply

For the area supplied by the Banja source, the water provider reported on 8 October that pumping had failed and supply was impossible until further notice. On 9 October, the City of Vrgorac confirmed that this had initially remained unchanged. This is more than a precautionary appeal to save water.

The first notice names Vrgorac, Banja, Orah, Prapatnice, Stilja, Kašče, Kotezi, Kutac, Kokorići, Ravča, Višnjica, Kljenak, Duge Njive, Brikva, Dubrava, Dragljane, Zavojane, Kozica, Rašćane, Župa and Vina. It concerns this supply area, not all of Dalmatia. Current local notices are authoritative for individual connections and the resumption of supply.

02

Containers with regular refilling are planned here

The newer city notice announces drinking-water containers at six locations: beside the church in Prapatnice, at the community hall in Stilja, at the turn towards Makarska in Ravča, beside the post office in Rašćane, on Prokos in Banja, and at the school in Dragljane. They are to be refilled continuously. The notice gives no individual collection time windows for them.

According to the city, older residents or those needing assistance who require a special drinking-water delivery can call +385 99 316 7857. For larger quantities, it directs people to the hydrant at Lukavac pumping station. Anyone relying on this should clarify the specific collection or delivery in advance.

The new Saturday and Sunday schedule

For 10 and 11 October, the city additionally publishes five stations with fixed times. These partly differ from the schedule of 8 October. All times are Croatian local time:

Kljenak: 08:00–09:30 at Paškala.

Kotezi, Kutac and Kokorići: 10:30–12:30 at the Begina bocce court.

Duge Njive and Brikva: 14:00–15:30 at the bus stop beside Vitina kuća.

Kozica: 16:30–17:30 at the cooperative hall.

Vina: 18:30–20:00 at the bus stop. For this location, the notice expressly says daily; its published context is the weekend schedule.

Use the new times for these stations, not a saved screenshot of the older schedule. Place descriptions deliberately remain close to the Croatian original so they can be recognised locally. We do not infer a complete timetable for the following week from the weekend plan.

What the pledged military assistance adds

The Defence Ministry attributes the drinking-water shortage around Vrgorac to pronounced drought. Following the city's request, Minister Ivan Anušić approved armed-forces assistance: tankers are to transport drinking water to settlements across the wider city area for the duration of the emergency.

The ministry gives neither a vehicle count nor delivery quantities or an end date. Its pledge also does not prove that a military vehicle has already visited every municipal distribution point. The specific collection schedule comes from the city; additional transport assistance is a separate decision.

05

Clarify your accommodation's supply before travelling

Anyone living or staying in the affected area over the weekend should ask in good time how drinking water and the rest of the water supply are organised at the specific address. A named distribution point does not tell you whether water flows from the tap at an accommodation.

The report describes a supply shortage. The notices reviewed report no contamination and give no boil-water instruction; the inability to pump water establishes neither contamination nor approval of every local water source. Changes and any resumption must be confirmed by the responsible authorities.
