Jadrolinija is keeping the Jelena in service for another week. Promotional fares apply on four additional travel days — but this does not add vehicle transport or make the route year-round.
The season now ends on 6 September
Jadrolinija is extending the Zadar–Ancona fast-boat route by one week. Following the originally announced end of the season on 30 August, additional sailings are scheduled on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday through 6 September 2026.
The extension is a specific late-summer decision, not a year-round timetable. The operator’s current booking system remains authoritative for a particular direction and departure time.
€80 is a promotional fare
For the additional sailings, Jadrolinija lists a fare of €80 each way for adults and €40 for children aged three to twelve. The advertised price is therefore below the previously published €100.
A promotional fare is not a guarantee for every basket. Availability, travel date and any additional conditions must be checked in the booking before payment.
Four hours — but still international
The scheduled crossing takes about four hours. Check-in, documents, port access and possible controls nevertheless remain part of an international sea journey between Croatia and Italy.
Anyone connecting to a train, bus or flight should therefore not count only the sailing time. A sensible margin remains necessary at both ends.
The Jelena carries passengers, not cars
The extended service is operated by the Jelena catamaran, which has capacity for up to 400 passengers. Vehicles are not carried.
A car cannot therefore be added at the last minute. Anyone parking in Gaženica or needing a rental car in Italy must plan that logistics separately.
Gaženica is not the Old Town
Departures from Zadar use the Gaženica passenger port south-east of the historic centre. Bus, taxi and check-in require real travel time.
In Ancona, too, the journey ends at the port rather than automatically at the railway station or hotel. The land connections help determine whether the fast route fits a particular plan.
Weather remains a moving part
Fast vessels are more sensitive to wind and sea conditions than a timetable on paper may suggest. A confirmed booking therefore does not replace a final check of operator notices before departure.
In a disruption, the specific operator information and passenger rights apply. Tight onward connections without a buffer increase the traveller’s own risk.
Who benefits from the extension
The extra dates help travellers who want to connect Croatia with central Italy without a long journey over land. They also allow a later return after the final August weekend.
The route remains demanding as a spontaneous day trip. Both directions, port transfers, documents and the final price should be clear before accommodation or onward travel is booked.
