HVZ still lists the fire as active on Sunday
The latest daily report from the Croatian Firefighting Association, HVZ, continues to describe the vegetation fire in the Slivno area near Perković as active. As of Sunday morning, no official notice had yet declared it contained or fully extinguished.
This article remains a time-stamped interim update. The status may change during the day; more recent instructions from the fire service and authorities take precedence for decisions on the ground.
The preliminary area rose from 70 to 145 hectares
HVZ now reports 145 hectares of grass, low vegetation and pine forest. The previous official update had put the area at about 70 hectares.
The increase does not necessarily mean that the fire area exactly doubled within a few hours. During an active operation, crews gradually map the perimeter, difficult terrain and already burned sectors more accurately. The 145-hectare figure therefore remains provisional rather than a final survey.
One firefighter received medical treatment
According to HVZ, the emergency medical service treated one firefighter for smoke inhalation. The report gives no further medical details.
This supports neither an assumption of serious injury nor one of discharge from care. The confirmed facts are limited to smoke inhalation, medical treatment and one firefighter affected.
Fifty-two firefighters and 20 vehicles were deployed on Saturday
For 5 September, HVZ lists 52 firefighters, 20 vehicles and the Robel firefighting train. Two Canadairs and two Air Tractors provided aerial support during the day.
These figures are a snapshot, not a total of everyone involved since the operation began. Earlier reports gave different personnel and aircraft numbers because staffing and operational needs changed over time.
Active does not mean the all-clear
An active fire may appear calmer in some sectors while crews continue extinguishing, monitoring or preventing flare-ups elsewhere. The improved conditions reported on Saturday were therefore not a formal all-clear.
A conclusion requires an explicit official notice that the fire has been contained or extinguished. The reviewed Sunday-morning report contains no such announcement.
Evacuations and road closures are not confirmed
The official reports still mention no evacuation, general road closure, damaged homes or confirmed cause. Such impacts must not be inferred from the size of the burned area.
Smoke may nevertheless remain visible or noticeable over a wide area. Wind direction and terrain determine which places appear affected; visible smoke alone does not prove a specific danger to your accommodation or route.

Do not stop at the incident scene to take photographs, keep access routes clear and do not pass on unconfirmed closure reports. Anyone in the affected area should check the latest official update before travelling and follow instructions on the ground.
