Two Canadair aircraft supported ground crews in Labinština. The fire was reported contained in the evening; about ten hectares of forest is an initial estimate, not a final official figure.
The report came in late afternoon
A forest fire near Šumber in Labinština was reported at about 4:30 pm on 3 September. Istria fire commander Dino Kozlevac told HINA directly that dense woodland was burning in difficult-to-access terrain.
Crews from the Labin public fire brigade, local volunteer fire brigades and the Pazin public fire brigade were deployed. Two Canadair aircraft supported the firefighting operation from the air.
Contained does not mean extinguished
A later evening update reported the fire contained at about 6:30 pm. The firefighting aircraft were then withdrawn, while ground crews remained in the area for mop-up and securing work.
Contained means the spread has been brought under control. Hotspots can persist in forest soil, roots and hard-to-reach areas; only a later operational update can declare the fire fully extinguished.
Ten hectares remains an initial estimate
The figure of about ten hectares reported in the evening comes from an early operational estimate. It indicates the scale, but is not yet a finally surveyed burn area.
The cause is also unknown. Golden Beach does not infer arson, negligence or a lightning strike from the response. Findings from the competent investigators or a final report would be needed for that.
No reported threat to settlements or roads
By editorial deadline, there were no reports of threatened settlements, closed roads, injured people or damage to tourism infrastructure. That is the confirmed information available, not a guarantee for every individual plot in the forest area.
Anyone nearby should keep access routes clear for emergency vehicles, avoid smoke and follow local instructions. Driving towards the fire out of curiosity hinders the operation and is not a sensible way to check conditions.
What information is still missing
No official final report from the Croatian Firefighting Association or the locally competent fire service could be found shortly before midnight. The final area, full deployment figures, time of complete extinguishment and cause therefore remain unresolved.
The article should be updated as soon as a primary source publishes these details. Until then, the precise wording is: contained, ground crews conducting mop-up work, and about ten hectares according to an initial estimate.
