The Zmajke paddled on Lac du Bourget
The IBCPC Dragon Boat Festival took place from 24 to 30 August 2026 in Aix-les-Bains on Lac du Bourget. The organiser reports 4,500 participants from 25 countries.

IBCPC connects teams after a breast cancer diagnosis
The International Breast Cancer Paddlers’ Commission organises a network of dragon boat teams for people who have experienced breast cancer. Its festival emphasises participation, meeting others and paddling together.
The event is not a conventional elite-sport tournament in which only a medal table matters. Inclusion is part of its official identity.
Punta Bajlo became a Croatian base
Dragonboat Klub Zadar was founded in 2022 and trains at Punta Bajlo. The club describes itself as Croatia’s only dragon boat club and had announced its 2026 participation as a major step in its development.

Synchronisation matters more than individual strength

The festival gives small teams international visibility
For a young team from Zadar, a field spanning 25 countries means local club work becomes part of a worldwide movement. Experiences in organisation, training and team-building can be exchanged directly.
Whether this leads to new members, more Croatian teams or regular international appearances remains open. The festival provides a stage, not an automatic long-term programme.
What remains from the journey
The Zmajke show a different side of sport on the Adriatic: not only regattas, tourism or records, but a club that brings experience, movement and community together.
