The regatta starts at 11 am on Saturday in the Zadarski kanal. You can enjoy the weekend without a boat of your own, but the draw for the 50 crew places has already closed.
A sailing day you can also enjoy from the shore
On Saturday, the channel off Zadar is set to become a regatta course once again. JK Uskok has announced Zadarska koka for 24 October 2026, starting at 11:00 am. The tourism event listing also recommends watching from the Riva: you do not have to take the helm yourself to enjoy the day’s sailing.
Spectators need a different plan from a crew. Watching from the shore requires neither a regatta entry nor a place won in the sailing draw. Weather and visibility will, however, help determine how pleasant the morning is. The published start time is a programme detail, not a guarantee that the event will go ahead regardless of the weather.
The 50 places are no longer an open offer
The club has once again made places available for people without their own boat or sailing experience. Registration for “Sretnih 50” ended on 19 October, however, and today’s check of the organiser’s website explicitly shows it as closed.
If someone forwards you an older invitation, you should therefore no longer expect to submit a regular new registration. A waiting list does not guarantee a place either. For opportunities to join a boat, what matters is an individual confirmation from the club, not simply repeating the promotional message that nobody needs a boat of their own.
Traditional sailing is part of the supporting programme
“Zadar na idra” runs from 16 to 24 October. For Thursday, 22 October, the programme lists public trips on traditional boats at JK Uskok from 3:30 to 5:00 pm. Registration is required with Udruga Kanata, as specified in the programme.
Friday’s activities include a demonstration of hoisting a lateen sail and a talk on northern Dalmatian boatbuilding. These events offer another way into the regatta: it is not just about speed, but also knowledge, boat designs and the people who pass these skills on. Check individual availability and any changes with the relevant organiser.
In the evening, the programme moves ashore
For Saturday, the club has announced a party from 7:00 pm with TBF, Boi Bend and Loveroom. Anyone coming only for the evening concerts will therefore need a different schedule from someone watching the start from the Riva.
Participating boats are subject to the club’s regatta documents. Our overview replaces neither the notice of race nor the skipper’s safety decisions. With changeable October weather, it makes sense to check the organiser’s updates and the latest marine forecast the day before and again on the morning itself. A programme photograph from a previous year says nothing about conditions on 24 October.
