Different closure times apply to the Dr. Franjo Tuđman Bridge on Saturday and Sunday. The transit restriction between the bridge and Lozica lasts longer. When planning your arrival, the affected road section matters as well as the date.

Two closures that do not end at the same time

Anyone wishing to cross Dubrovnik's bridge this weekend needs to adjust their route. The reason is the 26. Nagrada Dubrovnika hill climb. HAK confirms the ongoing bridge closure in its road report of 10 October at 12:24. The city published the time windows on 6 October.

Two rules need to be distinguished: the D8 between the bridge and Lozica remains closed to transit traffic from 9 October at 12:00 until 11 October at 22:00. The Dr. Franjo Tuđman Bridge and the road to Osojnik are closed on Saturday from 11:00 to 18:00 and on Sunday from 09:00 to 17:00. All times are Croatian local time.

A headline such as 'Bridge closed until Sunday evening' would therefore be too imprecise. It would confuse the individual racing windows with the longer transit restriction on the adjacent section. Conversely, the end of a bridge closure window does not mean that every usual through route is available again.

What to check before setting off

The city names Komolac and Mokošica as the diversion route. Local traffic to Osojnik is to be allowed controlled passage during breaks in practice and racing. This does not mean unrestricted access for any traveller. On site, temporary signs and instructions from the personnel deployed determine what is permitted.

Check your route against your actual destination: accommodation, port, car park or another meeting point. A general search for 'Dubrovnik' does not tell you whether the closed section lies on your way. If necessary, tell a host awaiting you about a changed arrival time before entering the affected area.

The announcement does not allow a reliable extra travel time to be calculated for a particular diversion. We therefore give no invented ten or twenty minutes. Anyone needing to catch a fixed connection should allow an additional margin and read the current HAK report again before setting off.

Do not confuse this with the Old Town access zone

This report describes temporary racing closures. Whether your vehicle may use a controlled access zone by the Old Town is a separate question. A diversion replaces neither any required authorisation nor a check of the specific car park.

Our linked background article on access to Dubrovnik helps with that second question. For the weekend, however, you first need the current closure plan. A useful planning order is: permitted access to your destination, parking there, and then the onward journey on foot or by the appropriate local transport.

For your return journey or a collection, do not keep only the outward route. If you arrive in the afternoon and leave again in the evening, a different time window may apply. The navigation device should then calculate using the new time; a route saved in the morning is not proof that passage is currently possible.

A different traffic arrangement starts in Lozica on Monday

The city also announces works from 12 October to 9 November on a local, unclassified road in Lozica. They affect a section approximately 75 metres long near house numbers 120 to 128: work is to take place on the northern lane running east–west, with traffic alternating under traffic-light control.

This announcement, published on 9 October, does not extend the bridge's racing closure. It concerns another section and a different traffic arrangement. Anyone living in Lozica or with accommodation booked there should compare the house number with their approach route.

For later travel dates, therefore, the racing times in this article are dated weekend information. Whether everything is actually open after the announced end, or another measure applies, must be established from the traffic information current at that time.
