A reader reports being charged four euros per person to disembark at the wooden pontoon. Bol Municipality clarifies that authorised taxi-boat operators may not impose this surcharge; the specific incident is still being investigated.
What a reader reports
The report began with a reader who says he arrived by boat at the wooden pontoon near Zlatni rat. He says four euros were demanded for each person disembarking and that no receipt was offered.
For now, this account concerns a single incident that has not been conclusively assessed by the authorities. The identity of the person, the demand for payment and the absence of a receipt are the reader’s claims and must not be presented as an established criminal offence.
What Bol Municipality confirms
In a written statement to Morski, the municipality said the pontoon is intended for passengers boarding and leaving authorised taxi boats on the route Port of Bol–Zlatni rat–Port of Bol.
Under municipal decision 3/24, each authorised operator pays the municipality €1,300 a year. These users are not permitted to charge an additional four euros per person themselves.
Not every boat has a right to use the pontoon
Conversely, the clarification does not mean that every private or commercial boat may use the pontoon free of charge. Mooring there may itself be unauthorised without the appropriate right of use.
Two questions therefore have to be kept separate: was the particular boat entitled to use the pontoon, and was someone then entitled to demand money from its passengers? So far, only the general municipal rule has been clearly answered.
How to handle an unclear demand for payment
Before paying, it should be clear who is demanding the money and on what basis. A price should be communicated before the service, and a proper receipt should be available for a paid service.
If a demand comes as a surprise, document the situation and location without confrontation, ask for the operator’s identity and a receipt, and report the matter to the municipality or competent inspectorate. The municipality has announced that it will examine the specific report.
