José Carreras will sing outside Dubrovnik Cathedral on 27 August with soprano Dušica Bijelić, the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra and conductor David Giménez. Tickets cost between €50 and €250. What is confirmed, what remains open and how to plan the evening sensibly.

01

The concert evening at a glance

José Carreras will perform on Thursday, 27 August 2026, at 9:30 pm in the square outside Dubrovnik Cathedral. The City of Dubrovnik, the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra and the official Dubrovnik Summer Festival all give the same date and venue. This is a seated open-air concert in the historic Old Town, not a performance in a conventional concert hall.

Carreras will be joined by soprano Dušica Bijelić and the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra. David Giménez will conduct the evening. The Orchestra's official calendar allocates 90 minutes to the event, which would put the finish at around 11 pm. This is a planned time frame, not a guarantee of the exact duration.

02

Carreras is coming with an orchestra and soprano

The line-up makes the evening more than a solo recital. Carreras, internationally known as one of the Three Tenors, will sing with Dušica Bijelić and the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra. David Giménez, who has conducted Carreras at numerous concerts, will provide the musical direction.

A complete programme of arias, songs, running order or possible encores had not been published in the official information checked up to 23 August. Anyone travelling for a particular work should therefore not assume that a familiar Carreras standard programme will be performed in Dubrovnik. The line-up has been published, not the precise list of works.

Tickets are officially still available, but availability is live

When checked at 11:45 pm on 23 August, the official ulaznice.hr ticket platform still showed 124 available seats. The published price range is €50 to €250. This figure is only a snapshot: availability can change with every booking, and the range does not mean that seats remain in every category.

Online, the safe route is the specific event page on ulaznice.hr. The City also lists two physical box offices: the Festival Palace at Od Sigurate 1 and the Dubrovnik Summer Festival sales point in Vukovarska Street, in front of the DTS shopping centre. Anyone buying on a third-party site should at least compare the event name, date, time and venue with the official page.

04

The official artwork already shows what kind of evening this is meant to be

The official announcement does not rely on a generic Dubrovnik backdrop, but on a restrained portrait of Carreras and the full line-up. It is event artwork, not a documentary photograph of a concert square that has already been set up. It reveals nothing about the stage, seating plan or sight lines.

Golden Beach therefore reproduces the artwork transparently, with a source note and without claiming a free licence. For a practical decision, the ticket platform is more important: only the seat selection shown there reveals which category and seat can actually be booked.

The stage is in the heart of the Old Town

The square outside the Cathedral lies within the walled Old Town. This provides an exceptional backdrop, but it also means that the final stretch is on foot over historic paving, through narrow lanes and across busy squares. Driving right up to the stage is not a sensible concert plan.

Dubrovnik controls car traffic around the Old Town. Anyone arriving by car should plan to use an authorised parking area outside the centre and leave enough walking time. The existing rules for the special traffic zone apply independently of the concert; no official event access route or special parking arrangement was stated when checked.

06

Arrive early, but do not invent a door time

For a 9:30 pm start, entering the Old Town early makes sense, not only because of possible checks but also because of summer crowds, the walk and finding the correct entrance to the seated area. Anyone who still needs to collect a ticket or clarify a seating category should allow an additional buffer.

A binding admission time, specific entrance gates, bag rules or an evening box office were not published on the official pages checked. Golden Beach therefore deliberately avoids inventing a time such as 8 pm. The instructions on the ticket and last-minute information from the City, Orchestra, Summer Festival or ticket platform are authoritative.

07

Open air: check the weather and contingency plan on the day

A concert outside the Cathedral is exposed to the weather. For Thursday evening, check not only the general Dubrovnik forecast but also the organisers' official communications shortly before departure. Wind, rain or thunderstorms can alter arrangements even if the daily forecast initially looks favourable.

At the time checked, official releases named neither a fixed bad-weather policy, an alternative date nor an indoor venue. That does not mean no internal plan exists, only that none was publicly documented. Visitors travelling from outside Dubrovnik should therefore not base other bookings on an unconfirmed fallback arrangement.

08

Plan the return journey before the first note

If the 90-minute slot in the Orchestra calendar holds, the evening will end at about 11 pm. Many visitors will then leave the same confined Old Town area at once. Allowing a realistic buffer for a taxi, bus, pickup or walk to the car park makes sense; a tightly timed onward journey immediately after the scheduled finish would be unnecessarily risky.

The simplest approach is to agree on a clear meeting point outside the densest flow of people. Groups should also decide beforehand whether everyone will leave together or meet at a particular gate if separated. The concert evening is special, but its most enjoyable version begins with a reliable outward and return plan.
