The festival is bigger than a single gala dinner
According to the organiser, Taste the Mediterranean runs from 9 to 13 September in Mali Lošinj. The published programme contains 45 entries: restaurant offers, workshops, professional meetings, presentations and special dinners.
Not every entry is intended for spontaneous visitors. Access ranges from choosing a restaurant freely to menus that require reservations and closed professional or opening events. The figure of 45 is therefore not a promise of 45 freely accessible events.
The lowest-priced option costs €20
Moby Dick lists a dessert with a drink for €20. Draga Pizza combines pizza, dessert and a cocktail for €30. These offers make the festival accessible without an expensive tasting menu.
Several restaurants offer three courses with wine pairing for €50 to €60. Check the specific day and venue in the official programme beforehand; a festival price does not automatically apply at every restaurant or throughout its opening hours.
A reservation avoids a long search in the evening
For menus with limited seating, booking ahead is sensible or explicitly required. This is especially true for guest-chef dinners and smaller restaurants. A programme listing is not yet a table confirmation.
Anyone combining several programme items should allow for travel within Mali Lošinj. The events do not all take place at one location, and a later restaurant booking cannot be moved freely around a workshop or presentation.
The exclusive evenings occupy a different price bracket
A reservation-only dinner priced at €165 is advertised for 11 September. Another special dinner on 12 September costs €110 plus a five-per-cent service charge. These are curated menus with guest chefs, not general admission to the festival.
The prices show the programme’s range. Anyone who sees only the name ‘Taste the Mediterranean’ should not assume there is one ticket or a single menu. You pay for the specific offer you book.
The official opening is not public
The programme lists an official opening at 7 pm on 10 September but marks it as invitation-only. Without an invitation, this should not be planned as a freely accessible event.
This is not a measure directed against visitors, but part of the festival’s industry and professional format. The separately listed restaurant offers and all events for which the programme does not require an invitation remain publicly accessible.
Details for 13 September remain unclear
The organiser gives 13 September as the festival’s closing date. In the currently visible day navigation, however, only 9 to 12 September can be selected in detail. A complete public Sunday programme cannot be inferred from that.
Anyone planning to come specifically on Sunday should check the programme again or contact the preferred provider directly. Golden Beach reports the official overall period, but does not promise an event that has not been published.
How to turn the selection into a good evening
Choose the budget and format first, then select and reserve the restaurant or event. Discuss vegetarian options, allergies and included drinks directly with the venue; the programme title alone does not answer these questions reliably.
Because severe weather is also forecast for Kvarner, travel and possible ferry effects should be included in plans for 9 and 10 September. The event may go ahead even if individual connections are adjusted.
