The health centre confirms the wish for a permanently available nurse, but currently sees no staffing and financial capacity. Vodice points to about €35,000 in annual support. A new permanent service has not yet been established.

01

A demand for reliable presence

Residents of Prvić want a permanently available nurse. Local outlet InfoVodice asked the Šibenik-Knin County health centre and the mayor of Vodice for responses. Their answers, published on 29 September 2026, turn a general request into a verifiable question of healthcare organisation.

The claim is not that the island has no medical help at all. The issue is the difference between a service available at certain times and a reliably permanent presence.

02

What the health centre and city confirm

According to the response to InfoVodice, a special arrangement for a nurse's presence has existed for years. The clinics in Prvić Luka and Šepurine are not part of the corresponding public-care network and are not financed by HZZO. Vodice covers part of staffing costs and the health centre the remaining operating costs.

Mayor Ante Cukrov put the city's annual support at about €35,000, plus contributions for equipment and aids. He stressed that the city does not employ health-centre staff. The centre said it currently lacks personnel and funding for a permanent nurse on Prvić.

03

The journey to the clinic is part of care too

The health centre also described a practical consequence of works on the waterfront: the nurse could not reach Prvić Luka by boat and temporarily had to continue on foot from Šepurine. That is a dated statement from 29 September, not our newly verified ferry update for every later day.

It illustrates a structural problem. The existence of a treatment room alone does not say when a professional arrives or how much working time remains. Transport and healthcare provision can be directly linked on an island.

What is still missing

The statements establish neither an approved new post nor a binding start for expanded care. We also do not state new clinic hours that were not published in the reviewed answers.

A reliable next step requires responsibility, financing, staff and a clear duty roster to be resolved together. One possible applicant or a public dispute over individuals does not replace those organisational questions. We therefore do not repeat unconfirmed personal allegations.

05

What residents and visitors should check

Anyone needing routine medical care on Prvić should ask the provider directly about actual times and the responsible contact. The talks described here are neither a clinic timetable nor an assurance that specific treatment is always available on the island.

Call 112 in an emergency rather than waiting for a scheduled routine clinic. This article does not assess individual treatment. It explains which organisational points are confirmed and why one funding figure does not answer the request for a permanent nurse.
