The D1 between Velika Popina and Otrić is closed to all traffic from 07:00 to 17:00 on both Monday and Tuesday. The diversion runs via Knin, Benkovac, Obrovac and Gračac.

New dates replace the earlier October notice

HAK confirms that DC1 between Velika Popina and Otrić will be closed to all vehicles on 26 and 27 October 2026, from 07:00 to 17:00 each day. The earlier Otrić–Nadvrelo closure period ending on 23 October is therefore no longer the current travel information. This article keeps its existing address and now gives the new section and dates.

The measure affects a state road, not the A1 motorway. Reading only the number one in a navigation app could lead you to change the wrong route. Check the road designation and whether your route actually uses the affected section.

02

The diversion follows several state roads

HAK gives the corridor as Knin (D1) – Oćestovo (D59) – Kistanje (D59) – Bribirske Mostine (D56) – Benkovac (D56) – Obrovac (D27) – Gračac (D27/D1). This sequence runs considerably further west than the direct connection through Otrić.

Use the published places to cross-check your navigation and follow the signs. The notice does not confirm a short local shortcut. The actual additional driving time depends on your starting point, destination and traffic; a general estimate in minutes would imply a level of precision the notice does not provide.

Work continuing until November is a separate matter

Work on Otrić–Zrmanja is also listed as continuing until 30 November. This longer construction period is not equivalent to a continuous full closure until the end of November. Conversely, the end of the daily closure window at 17:00 does not guarantee a roadworks-free journey on all adjacent sections.

If you need to reach accommodation, a collection point or an appointment, allow a buffer and give advance notice of any confirmed delay. For a later travel day, a new report matters more than a saved screenshot of this October information.

04

Check your specific travel day before departure

The two announced closure days are Monday and Tuesday. All times are local time in Croatia. Immediately before travelling, check whether HAK reports a postponement, extension or reopening.

If your route uses the A1 or A6, their respective traffic arrangements also apply; they must not be confused with this D1 closure. Careful travel planning considers each section separately rather than interpreting a single notice as a closure of a connection across the whole country.
