For Friday, 9 October, Jadrolinija reports suspensions on the Elaphiti routes and two Kvarner catamaran services. This overview separates those notices from Thursday's situation. Before setting out, the operator's latest confirmation is what counts.
Elaphiti and Kvarner services are affected on Friday
For Friday, 9 October 2026, Jadrolinija lists boat route 807 Suđurađ–Lopud–Koločep–Dubrovnik as suspended. Ferry route 831 on the same itinerary is suspended from 07:00. That time applies expressly to the ferry; it is not a guarantee that boat route 807 will sail earlier.
In the Rijeka district, the operator also lists catamaran routes 9308 Mali Lošinj–Cres–Rijeka and 9309 Novalja–Rab–Rijeka as suspended. These are the services named in the Friday notice, not a closure of all island traffic in Kvarner.
The operator notice was checked directly on the morning of 8 October, at about 11:45. It gives no end time for the suspensions, confirmed resumption or replacement transport. Anyone who must travel on Friday should therefore check for a new notice concerning their own service before setting out.
The operator check remains decisive on Thursday
For Thursday, 8 October 2026, this overview combines HAK's maritime traffic update at 11:14 with DHMZ's marine forecast at 06:00. Both times are Croatian local time. They describe Thursday; the Friday suspensions above come from a separate Jadrolinija notice.
A suspension is neither automatically an all-day cancellation nor a guarantee that the next scheduled sailing will operate. Keep the booking number, route number and intended direction at hand. A confirmed connection and time buffer are particularly important when a flight or long drive follows.
HAK lists these routes as suspended on Thursday
The Lopar–Valbiska car ferry is affected. For catamarans, HAK lists Split–Milna–Hvar–Korčula–Dubrovnik, Split–Dubrovnik, Mali Lošinj–Cres–Rijeka and Novalja–Rab–Rijeka. The Mali Lošinj–Vele Srakane–Unije–Susak and Dubrovnik–Koločep–Lopud–Suđurađ boat routes are also included.
This list describes HAK's situation at 11:14 on 8 October. It is not a guarantee for the rest of the day or a general cancellation list for Friday. For the specific departure, the route, direction and a current operator confirmation are decisive.
Jugo, south-westerly winds and increasing sea state
In its 06:00 forecast, DHMZ warns of south-easterly and south-westerly gusts of 35 to 45 knots and possible thunderstorms. Sea state 5 is expected in places on the central and southern Adriatic overnight. The figure is a sea-state category, not a wave height of five metres.
The warning is not identical in strength everywhere. A view from a sheltered harbour says little about conditions on the open route between two islands. For private boats, this summary replaces neither an on-site assessment nor the complete current marine forecast.
Rijeka prepares for heavy rain
On 7 October, the City of Rijeka drew attention to an orange rain warning and yellow warnings for wind and thunderstorms on Thursday. Emergency services are on standby, and the city mentions possible flash flooding and water on roads. This is a precautionary notice, not evidence of damage that has already occurred.
The city's advice is to drive more slowly, leave a greater distance and avoid travel during especially severe thunderstorms where possible. Anyone who must reach the port or station should allow extra time and follow current local advice.
Not every timetable change is a weather cancellation
Alongside disruptions, Jadrolinija publishes timetable changes announced in advance. Separate notices cover Gaženica–Preko on 9 October, Split–Stari Grad on 11 October and Split–Vis on 12 October. Our linked service article collects the times; the notices do not state a weather reason. A rescheduled or extra sailing is not the same as a suspended route.
If your sailing is cancelled, contact the contractual operator first about rebooking and reimbursement. Our linked background article on passenger rights explains the different entitlements. This daily overview is not a continuously monitored departure board: official live sources govern later journeys.
