A weekend on the road above the Krka

Skradin will gain another soundtrack alongside its harbour and old town this weekend: the Croatian motorsport federation HAKS reports 92 drivers from 18 countries entered for BONGO HillClimb Monsters. Racing takes place on a 3,250-metre uphill course from the Krka bridge towards Lozovac. The event weekend runs from 16 to 18 October, with the sporting runs scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

For Saturday, 17 October, the federation lists three practice runs, followed by three competitive runs on Sunday. That is a useful basic structure for a visit. The number of entries, however, does not establish that every vehicle will actually start or that all runs will take place unchanged.

What BONGO stands for

The event is organised jointly with automobile club Mihovil and commemorates the late racing driver István Kavecz, known as Bongo. The organiser's website presents it as a season finale featuring different vehicle classes. Motorsport visitors are therefore coming to a competition on a specially prepared course, not an ordinary classic-car gathering.

The spectacular performance figures of individual cars explain the attention. For your own plans, they are secondary: authorised spectator areas, access to them and the marshals' instructions matter more. An empty embankment is not automatically a permitted or protected place to stand.

03

Plan your approach and viewing position separately

Anyone travelling to Skradin, the Krka or onwards to Lozovac over the weekend should not count on the race road as a usable shortcut. Current local arrangements determine specific access routes, closure times and parking areas. The federation and organiser information checked here does not provide a complete traffic plan with a binding end time for every closure.

Our practical advice: open the current programme before travelling, allow extra time and use only designated areas. Do not cross the course while it is in operation; marshals' instructions take priority over the desire for a better photo. Include the return walk to your car in your plans.

04

A race day is not the whole Skradin visit

If you want to combine the event with a harbour walk, leave breathing space between the two. A tight connection or rigidly scheduled change of location is poorly suited to a race day whose timetable may shift. We do not publish admission prices or minute-by-minute start times here without reliable, current confirmation from the organiser.
