What the city intends to tackle
Crikvenica and Primorje-Gorski Kotar County have announced steps against unauthorised mooring equipment along the coast between Podvorska and Selce. The items named are buoys, chains and concrete blocks used to occupy space in practice.
According to the statements obtained, neither concessions nor a public port area provide a blanket legal basis for such private installations in the relevant section. That still does not make every visible buoy automatically unlawful; the specific status must be checked.
An announcement is not yet a clearance operation
The responsible authorities speak of formal proceedings against installations without approval. No completed inventory, published list of all affected positions or date for comprehensive removal is available yet.
It would therefore go too far to claim that every unauthorised mooring has already been removed. Several stages may lie between a report, inspection, decision and actual removal.
Why the anchoring matters
A buoy is more than a point on the surface. Chains and heavy concrete blocks occupy the seabed, can damage seagrass and other habitats, and establish a de facto claim to public maritime space.
At the same time, a professional and legal assessment determines what may be removed and who is responsible. Releasing or towing equipment away without authority would be dangerous and could cause further damage.
What boat owners should do now
Anyone using a private mooring there should check its permit, contract and exact position and respond to correspondence from the responsible authority. Long-standing use does not automatically replace valid authorisation.
Visiting boats should not treat an available or unmarked buoy as a safe public mooring. Load capacity, owner, fees and permission must be clear before tying up.
How to report a problem location
